Ice

lines made of air, water and ice
fragile structures – like a landscape
air chambers defining contour lines
beside pearls of air, cuddling together
crystals growing from the bank – substituting vegetation – winter’s plants
delicate layers – beauty of the pristine
a compensation
a trail of memories of ambivalent joy
cracking the ice sheets of puddles as a child
to find out if they can withstand my walking
feeling guilt for destroying the pristine surface
footprints – filled with muddy puddle water
the trail of memories continues
